Rameswaram, located on Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu, is one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations and a jewel of South Indian heritage. 📍 Spiritual Significance

Rameswaram is deeply rooted in the epic Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Rama built the legendary Ram Setu (Adam’s Bridge) from here to reach Lanka to rescue Sita. Many of the sites, temples, and shrines in Rameswaram are connected with this story, giving the town a divine atmosphere filled with devotion and history.

1. Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple (Main Darshan)

  • Start early around 5:00–6:00 AM to avoid long queues.

  • One of the 12 Jyotirlingas and a major Char Dham.

  • Famous for the 22 Theertham sacred baths inside the temple.

2. Agni Theertham (Beach)

  • Just outside the temple.

  • Pilgrims take a holy dip before entering Ramanathaswamy Temple.

  • Beautiful sunrise point.

3. Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple

  • Houses the floating stones used in the Ram Setu legend.

  • Peaceful atmosphere for prayer.

4. Ramar Patham (Gandhamadhana Parvatham)

  • A small hilltop with the footprint of Lord Rama.

  • Best panoramic view of the entire island.

4. Vibhishan Temple / Kothandaramaswamy Temple

  • Ancient temple where Lord Rama coronated Vibhishana.

  • Surrounded by sea on three sides.
